In honor of opening their newest store in Tribeca, maharishi creates a Nike Air Max 90 using a sustainable approach to design. The London-based streetwear brand is known for their military aesthetic, such as their heavy use of camouflage. But what many might not know is that the brand has strong roots in honoring nature, and does so without compromising the newest technologies in the fashion industry.
With this background in mind, it’s easy to see why the brand has taken so many intricate steps to design with this Nike Air Max 90 “maha Olive.” The focal point of the design revolves around the uppers being dyed naturally with pomegranate and turmeric and the use of organic materials for construction. The woodgrain design seen on the Swoosh, back heel tab and elsewhere represents the lining at the Tribeca store. And as if paying homage wasn’t enough, the intricate pattern is created from sawdust resulting from grinding shipping palettes. Rounding out details for the collaboration includes a co-branded tongue tags and maharishi-labeled insoles.
The maharishi x Nike Air Max 90 “maha Olive” will be available first via raffle on August 22nd, while a wider online release is slated for August 30th. Check out images below of the Air Max 90 between maharishi and Nike and check out maharishi’s newest flagship store out in Tribeca.
