If you’re not familiar with the name, chances are you have stumbled upon Nicole McLaughlin‘s work on Instagram at least once or twice. The 25-year-old creative has seemingly become the face of DIY reconstruction with her innovative take on footwear, and beyond. Recently, McLaughlin has garnered massive amounts of attention through her insane custom slides made from beach balls, life preservers, reconstructed beanies, and pretty much everything else you can think of.
All while maintaining a graphic design position at Reebok, McLaughlin continues to wow the masses with every piece she brings to the light. But her design prowess isn’t just limited to footwear, only weeks ago did she make an improbable pair of cargo pants made from, you guessed it, pencil pouches. Being self-taught, McLaughlin is surely carving out a successful path for herself with every piece she brings to the table, reworking pieces made from some of our favorite brands including The North Face, Ralph Lauren, and Columbia, just to name a few. Experimenting with different items laying around her home has led to a massive following, and some of the most incredible reconstructed pieces you will ever lay your eyes on.
