This year, Chicago’s annual Summer of Peace March celebrated it’s 15th anniversary. For the occasion, Nike has announced the release of two Air Max 97’s colorways and a new Air Force 1.
The Chicago event took place on June 14th, where residents took to the streets to peacefully protest for anti-violence, love, and peace. With celebrity natives in attendance, such as Chance the Rapper, the event exemplifies a deeper meaning for all Chicago residents.
The “Tie-Dye/Chicago” Air Max 97’s releasing will come in a base upper of either black and white leather, with tie-dye hits taking over the sneaker’s underlay and partial tongue. The sneakers will include special commemorative details, such as detailed pull-tabs and branding on both tongues and insoles. As for the AF1’s, tie-dye will be present throughout the canvas upper with hits of the model’s signature white on the laces, midsole, and back heel tab. Special branding will also be present on the insole, back heel tab, and tongue.
Although Chicago’s annual Peace March may be over, these new Nike releases will be sure to keep the event’s motif living year-round. The colorful tie-dye sneakers are expected to arrive at select retailers and Nike in the upcoming weeks, so be sure to keep an eye open for when they release!
