In commemoration of the traditional Mexican holiday Día de Los Muertos, Nike re-designs new versions of three of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes.
The Nike “Day of the Dead” Pack will include the brand’s three most iconic models with their individual motif’s delving from the holiday, including the Air Force 1, Air Max 95 and Nike Cortez.
The Air Force 1 “La Calaca” is inspired by the character symbolic of the journey of life after death and is represented through details of a majority white upper and vibrant colors for traditional offers. The Air Max 95 “La Catrina” takes form, with the character representative of happy afterlives. To reflect this, the sneaker features a rib-like lace system, a spine-imitating sole, and both a mesh and suede upper used to represent muscle and tissue. Last but not least, the Nike Cortez of the pack takes a more traditional route as inspired by four natural elements that represent the different afterlife-guiding ideas: water, air, earth, and fire. Moreover, the insoles are decorated with confetti, candles, ceramics, and water to highlight these elements while the outside mixes a black upper, more subtle orange details, and white Swoosh.
